COURSE CREATION
All new section designers and instructors are required to enroll in Blackboard CE Fast Track training before requesting a course in Blackboard CE.
If you have not signed up for a training session, you can get started here.
Blackboard courses are created only when requested by the instructor assigned to teach the course or, in some cases, by departmental administration.
Requests for course creation should be submitted to the instructor's departmental administrative assistant, who will flag the course in Banner. That process will trigger the automatic creation of the course in Blackboard. It can take up to an hour for the course to then appear in Blackboard.
IMPORTANT: If the course is cross listed, the CRN of the cross listed course(s) has to be flagged at the same time.
If a technical issue occurs in this process, the first point of contact is the Registrar’s Office. The departmental administrative assistant should contact Matt Gerst at 977-2260 or gerstmg@slu.edu. Registrar personal will work with the Blackboard support team to resolve the issue.
If you need additional people added to the class such as auxiliary instructors or TAs, you can call the Blackboard team at 977-2252 for assistance.
